Mobile wallets - is it just a stop-over?

Why would one use a mobile wallet if you have internet banking and plastic? Or is a mobile wallet aimed for specific use, like events, schools, travel? Is cash really that big problem? Why would I want a mobile wallet rather than have that amount in hard cash? Critical thinking is necessary!
